WFAPA is committed to strengthening and preserving foster and adoptive families throughout Wisconsin. Through our Foster and Adoptive Support Program (FASPP) and Support and Advocacy for Adoption Network (SAAN), we connect families with peer-driven support, information, and resources during some of the most challenging moments of their journey.

WFAPA is here to help connect foster and adoptive families with support, information, and resources. Our FASPP and SAAN workers bring invaluable insight from their own experiences with foster care and adoption.

As experienced foster and adoptive parents, our volunteers understand the complexities, challenges, and triumphs that can accompany each family's unique journey. They are committed to listening without judgment, sharing information, and helping families explore available resources.

Our goal is to build a caring, supportive community where families feel heard, understood, and empowered to navigate the obstacles they may encounter.

FASPP – Foster and Adoptive Support Program
Peer Support for Families Across Wisconsin
FASPP's mission is to meet the needs of foster and adoptive parents statewide through a network of peer-driven support and information that helps preserve foster and adoptive families.
​
FASPP is an outreach of the SAAN program and is connected to WFAPA. Our highly trained volunteers are fellow foster and adoptive parents who understand the unique joys, uncertainties, and challenges of fostering and adoption.
​
Whether you need information, encouragement, or someone who understands your situation, FASPP offers a supportive connection to help you navigate the often-complicated world of foster care and adoption.
Support During an Investigation
Facing an allegation or investigation can be an overwhelming and stressful experience. FASPP provides a connection with someone who understands the process and can help you feel less alone.

Our volunteers can help you:

Understand the Process: Gain general information about the investigation process and the typical sequence of events.

Find a Listening Ear: Talk with someone who understands the unique pressures foster and adoptive families may face.

Process Your Emotions: Express your feelings and concerns in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment.

Explore Helpful Resources: Learn about relevant training opportunities, conferences, educational materials, and tip sheets.
SAAN – Support and Advocacy for Adoption Network
Support When You Need It Most
SAAN is a peer-driven support network designed to minimize the trauma experienced by foster and adoptive families during an allegation and investigation, without compromising the integrity of the investigation.
​
Foster parents open their homes and hearts to children who bring their own histories, experiences, and challenges. Although foster and adoptive parents work hard to provide safe, nurturing environments, they may face allegations related to the care of a child at some point in their journey.
​
Undergoing an investigation can be stressful and frightening, regardless of whether an allegation is ultimately substantiated. Parents may experience uncertainty, fear, frustration, and concern about what lies ahead.
​
You do not have to navigate this experience alone.

SAAN is here to provide information, peer support, and understanding throughout the investigation process. Our goal is to help families better understand what to expect, connect with someone who will listen, and access resources that may help them through a difficult time.

SAAN workers draw on their own experiences with foster care and adoption to better understand the complexities, challenges, and successes that shape each family's journey—including the difficult experience of an allegation or investigation.

SAAN's role is to support families while respecting the investigation process. Our volunteers do not interfere with investigations, determine the validity of allegations, or provide legal advice.
