When
is the next Conference and who will be speaking?
The next conference will be October 23-25 at
the AmericInn in Ashland, WI.....There will be several speakers (TBA at a later date). This conference will also serve as a training session for our FASPP volunteers. If you would like to become a volunteer or would like more information, please contact WFAPA President Sherry Benson or any other board member. Check
out the Conference page and watch
the newsletter for more information.
What
is WFAPA doing for me?
WFAPA is a peer and volunteer-based
organization. WFAPA advocates for foster and adoptive parents
by helping to create and support different legislative measures with
our fellow representatives in Madison. WFAPA provides support
for foster and adoptive families through training, networking and, in
the near future, through a new program called FASPP (Foster and
Adoptive Support and Preservation Program). This new program
will provide a direct link with a trained peer who will be able to
provide support and information to you.
WFAPA's conferences bring in educated speakers
who give you ideas on how to handle or better
understand tough issues.
The recent "teen" conferences as part of the fall conference are
reaching out to another generation to help them face some issues and
make decisions in their lives. WFAPA conferences reach a
statewide population, and WFAPA encourages networking amongst foster
and adoptive parents. You never know who might have an
answer for you!
WFAPA also tries to educate the public and
bring a more positive light to foster and adoptive parenting through
stories in different areas of the media (including radio, newspapers,
etc.) and through our quilt which tells the stories of several
children.
